The place of women in economics: (much) more can be done

Unlike most other social sciences, economics has few women. This is not so much due to an early imbalance in student orientation. It becomes more pronounced as young economists progress in their careers and become more persistent. To try and remedy this state of affairs, committees for the promotion of women economists around the world are trying to support them in their careers.
