The intellectual legacy of Janos Kornai: an examination of the systems paradigm and loose budget constraints

Janos Kornai's intellectual legacy can be explored by focusing on two key concepts constantly present in his work, namely the systemic paradigm and the loose budget constraint (LBC). These two concepts formed the theoretical underpinnings of Kornai's original contributions to the analysis of 'comparative economic systems'. In this post, based on a recent article published in the Revue d'économie politique, Mehrdad Vahabi presents the intellectual background.
